The Origin of TechyTack

I love Stickytack.  I think it has to be one of my favorite school supplies.  You can use it to post virtually anything on the wall, and you can even move it if you want to!

It's also quite useful for eliminating boredom.  Not that I've ever used it for that before . . . Wait, where was I again?

My point is, I think technology in the classroom can be used for virtually anything.  And, it, too, is quite useful for eliminating boredom.  But that is not the only reason to use technology.

One of the main reasons to teach with technology is to meet your students at their level.  In the 21st century, if classroom instruction is still the teacher standing at the board, the sage on the stage, then the only person in that classroom that's comfortable is the teacher.

In addition, technology can allow you to give your students opportunities in the classroom that they might not otherwise have access to, such as Skyping with a world famous research oncologist, collaborating with students in a classroom across the world, or even having a global audience via use of a classroom blog.

Technology is not and should not be the meat and potatoes of your instruction, but it can be the support, and the tool to engage your students.  It can provide the ooomph to make your lesson "stick" if you will.

I've started this blog for many reasons, one of which is to share my curriculum and technology ideas with the hope of them sticking with others.  I hope you will stick around and follow me!
